Design

Over the years, Inland Plastics, Inc. has helped hundreds of customers meet their custom injection molding needs.  Whether you come to us with a concept in its earliest stages or a mold that needs to be re-engineered, you will benefit from our experience, knowledge, and commitment to detail.  At Inland Plastics, Inc., we work with customers at every stage of product development to solve problems and efficiently fulfill the need for finely crafted and functional parts.

If what you have is an idea for a product and what you need is someone to make your concept a reality, Inland Plastics, Inc. can help you understand the possibilities, potential limitations, and costs of producing the products you need.  If you have preliminary or fully completed part prints, there are no charges for the quoting and process planning stages.  There is no charge for review of your prints, or the recommendations we may make for either better tooling construction or part production.  Finally, if you require fully documented and toleranced tooling and part prints for your records, charges apply and these will be quoted up front before any purchase order or commitment is made.

We invite customers to visit us to meet with the people who will be involved with your project.  When requested, we will advise you about

We want our customers to be involved during the early stages of product development.  Ultimately, this early involvement will minimize your concerns later on and allow you to concentrate on marketing your product.  Our success is intimately tied to yours, and we want to demystify complex design and production processes so that our relationship is mutually beneficial.

Tooling Costs

Depending upon the complexity of the products you need to produce, the costs associated with producing a mold can vary widely.  Over the years, we have produced molds that range from simple inserts to complete molds, including complex hot runner systems.

When the products are not very large in size (less than 6" x 4"), we will sometimes recommend the use of an insert mold.  In these cases, the customer pays for the inserts and we furnish the mold base at no charge (as long as we run the mold).  This method can sometimes save you thousands of dollars that would have otherwise been invested in a mold base.

When your production will be very high and require multiple cavities, we will recommend and quote a complete dedicated mold that includes everything we feel is necessary to produce the best quality at the fastest cycles.  Depending upon the parts, this type of tooling can be very expensive and we will advise you about what each segment costs and how it will affect your part prices in the short and long term.  We have found over the years that if you are going into high production, it benefits you to invest more money up front on a high quality mold because it is a one-time expenditure.  The savings in part prices over a period of time will more than pay for the additional mold price.

We have had many customers who have great ideas and products but who are not sure how much volume will be needed.  In these cases, we have planned molds that are expandable at a later date.  The up front additional cost for these molds is minimal, but the long-range, high-volume planning is in place to allow part production to increase as your needs grow.

If you are unsure of what type of mold you need, please contact us and we will be happy to discuss your needs and your options.
